Wind near the foothills and hail from the south-west
The western edge of Littleton is close to the foothills, where wind accelerates down the slopes and across open land. Roofs there take hard gusts, and ridge caps and edge shingles are common failure points. Storms also move through from the south and west, bringing hail that damages older asphalt shingles and the vents and metal caps along the ridge.
The area is also home to many mature trees along the river and in older neighborhoods, which shed leaves, drop limbs and keep north slopes damp for longer.
Ice and snow collect on shaded slopes and add to the wear.
